Victron MultiPlus-II 48/10000/140-100-100 Inverter Charger for Advanced Energy Systems

The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/10000/140-100-100 is a high-capacity inverter charger designed for residential, commercial, marine, and off-grid energy systems that require stable power delivery, fast source switching, and intelligent load management. The MultiPlus-II combines a powerful inverter and a high-current battery charger in one unit and is designed to operate in grid-connected, off-grid, or hybrid energy storage systems.

Unlike hybrid inverters with built-in solar MPPT inputs, the Victron MultiPlus-II operates as an inverter charger and integrates with external solar charge controllers or AC-coupled grid-tie inverters.

What the Victron MultiPlus-II Is and Is Not

The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/10000 is not a solar hybrid inverter with direct PV inputs. Solar panels must be connected through external MPPT solar charge controllers or AC-coupled inverters. What it does provide is extremely robust inverter performance, fast transfer switching, and advanced grid and generator support.

Grid Parallel Operation and ESS Compatibility

The Victron MultiPlus-II supports grid-parallel operation and is suitable for ESS (Energy Storage System) applications. With the use of an external AC current sensor or power meter, the system can optimise self-consumption and limit grid feed-in when required. In the event of a grid outage, the MultiPlus-II continues supplying critical loads automatically.

PowerControl and PowerAssist Functionality

PowerControl allows the user to set a maximum grid or generator current to prevent overload. PowerAssist extends this functionality by supplementing insufficient grid or generator power with battery energy during peak demand periods, then recharging the battery once loads decrease.

Dual AC Outputs and Fast Transfer Switching

The main AC output of the Victron MultiPlus-II features no-break functionality with transfer times below 20 milliseconds, ensuring uninterrupted operation of sensitive equipment. A second AC output is available for loads that should only operate when grid or generator power is present, preventing unnecessary battery discharge.

Battery Compatibility and Charging Performance

The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/10000 operates on a 48V battery system and supports both lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries. It includes a powerful 140A battery charger, making it suitable for medium to large battery banks and fast recharge cycles from grid or generator power.

Parallel and Three-Phase System Capability

Multiple MultiPlus-II units can be connected in parallel to increase output power. The system also supports three-phase configurations. For the 8kVA, 10kVA, and 15kVA models, parallel operation requires the use of an external AC transfer switch as specified by Victron.

Monitoring, Configuration, and Remote Access

The Victron MultiPlus-II integrates with Victron GX devices such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX for full system monitoring and control. Systems can be monitored locally or remotely using Victron’s remote management platforms.
