Solis 50kW 3-Phase High Voltage Hybrid Inverter
The Solis 50kW three-phase high voltage hybrid inverter is a commercial and industrial energy storage platform designed for large electrical systems where energy control, backup capability, and grid interaction must be managed within a single intelligent system. This inverter is built for continuous operation under high load conditions and is intended for installations that require solar generation, high-voltage battery storage, and advanced energy management across three phases.
Unlike standard grid-tie inverters that shut down during grid outages, the Solis 50kW hybrid inverter actively manages power flow between solar PV, high-voltage lithium batteries, the grid, and generator input. It is designed to function not only as a grid-connected inverter but also as a backup and energy storage controller when batteries are installed.
How the Solis 50kW High Voltage Hybrid Inverter Manages Energy
At the centre of the system, the Solis 50kW hybrid inverter continuously monitors solar production, battery state of charge, grid availability, and load demand across all three phases. Based on configured priorities, it decides whether energy should be consumed directly from solar, stored in batteries, discharged from storage, imported from the grid, or supplied by a generator.
This allows the system to dynamically adapt to changing conditions throughout the day without manual intervention, optimising energy usage, reducing grid dependency, and maintaining power stability.
Three-Phase Power Delivery of the Solis 50kW Hybrid Inverter
The inverter delivers true three-phase output at 230/400V and is designed to support demanding commercial loads. It maintains stable voltage and frequency even under fluctuating load conditions, making it suitable for installations with motors, pumps, compressors, refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment, and distributed three-phase loads.
The backup output supports short-term overload capability of up to 1.6 times rated power for 2 seconds, ensuring reliable startup of inductive loads during backup operation.
High Voltage Battery System Design of the Solis 50kW Inverter
This inverter is designed exclusively for high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems operating within a voltage range of approximately 150V to 800V. It does not support 48V or other low-voltage battery systems.
Operating at high voltage significantly reduces current flow, improves system efficiency, lowers cable losses, and enables high power transfer without excessive conductor sizing. Dual battery inputs allow independent battery connections, with controlled charging and discharging via CAN or RS485 communication.
Solar PV Input and MPPT Operation on the Solis 50kW Hybrid Inverter
The Solis 50kW hybrid inverter features multiple integrated MPPT solar charge controllers, allowing direct connection of large PV arrays without external MPPT devices. It supports PV input voltages up to 1000V DC and provides flexible string configurations for complex rooftop or ground-mounted installations.
Multiple MPPTs allow different PV arrays to operate independently, improving overall energy harvest when arrays face different orientations or experience partial shading.
Grid Interaction, Export Control, and Peak Shaving
The inverter supports grid-connected operation with configurable export behaviour, including self-consumption, limited export, or zero-export modes. It also supports peak shaving functionality, allowing the system to limit grid draw during high-demand periods and reduce demand charges in commercial installations.
Anti-islanding protection and grid monitoring are built into the inverter to ensure safe disconnection during grid outages and compliant reconnection when grid conditions stabilise.
Generator Integration and Backup Strategy
A dedicated generator input allows the Solis 50kW hybrid inverter to integrate with standby generators. The inverter can automatically start and stop the generator based on battery state of charge, load demand, or programmed schedules.
Generator power can be used to supply loads, charge batteries, or both simultaneously, providing a robust backup solution during extended grid outages.
Backup Operation and Power Continuity
During grid failure, the inverter switches to battery and solar operation with a backup switch time of less than 10 milliseconds. This allows critical three-phase loads to remain powered without noticeable interruption when sufficient battery and solar energy are available.
Thermal Design and Long-Duration Performance
The inverter uses intelligent redundant fan cooling to manage internal temperatures under sustained high load conditions. This cooling system supports continuous operation in demanding commercial environments while protecting internal components and maintaining long-term reliability.
